PAT testing is the inspection and electrical testing of any appliance you supply as part of the let — kettles, fridges, washing machines, lamps, vacuum cleaners. Each tested item gets a green dated sticker. Failed items don't get tested again — we recommend replacement or repair.
It's not strictly mandatory under the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994, but the standard is widely treated as required by insurers and local authorities. After any incident, the first thing an insurer asks for is the PAT certificate.
